COMMITTEE MEMBERS ROLES

The Editor in Chief will be responsible for the overall direction and content of the SERA Journal. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the editorial board
  • Overseeing the journal’s budget
  • Promoting the SERA journal to potential authors and readers
  • Ensuring the quality and impact of the journal
  • Working with the managing editor and publisher to ensure that the journal is meeting its goals
  • Making decisions about the SERA journal’s marketing and promotion
  • Ensuring the review of all manuscripts submitted to the journal and making decisions about whether to publish them or not.

The Managing Editor or Editor will manage the production process of the journal by working with the publisher to ensure that manuscripts are published on time and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the editorial calendar
  • Assigning articles to reviewers
  • Ensuring that articles are published on time
  • Working with the Editor-in-Chief to set the journal’s editorial policies and standards
  • Determining the types of articles to be published
  • Managing and organising the review of all manuscripts submitted to the journal
  • Managing the production process of the journal by working with the Editorial Board members and publisher to publish all the accepted articles
  • Promote the journal to potential authors, readers, and funders.
  • Making decisions about the journal’s marketing and promotion
  • Coordinate copyediting and proofreading activities to ensure that manuscripts meet the journal’s style and formatting guidelines.
  • Maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal

The Assistant Managing Editor will assist the Managing Editor in overseeing and managing the editorial operations of the journal publication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in managing the overall editorial workflow
  • Assisting in coordinating and tracking the progress of manuscripts from submission to publication
  • Assisting in keeping accurate records, organising submissions, assigning reviewers, and monitoring timelines
  • Helping in identifying and inviting suitable peer reviewers
  • Assisting in ensuring that manuscripts meet the journal’s style and formatting guidelines

The Editorial Board will help the Editor in Chief and Managing Editor select and review manuscripts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing manuscripts submitted to the journal
  • Ensuring that only high-quality and impactful research is published in the journal
  • Deciding on manuscript acceptance or rejection using the recommendations of peer reviewers
  • Identifying suitable reviewers, managing reviewer invitations, resolving conflicts or disagreements among reviewers, and ensuring the integrity and fairness of the peer review process
  • Encouraging colleagues to submit their research articles and promoting the publication of the submitted published articles

The Editorial Advisers or Consulting Editors will provide expert guidance and advice to the editorial team of the journal.

Responsibilities include:

  • Offering specialised knowledge and expertise to ensure that the journal remains relevant, impactful, and innovative in their respective fields of expertise.
  • Offering advice on editorial policies and strategies for improving the quality and reputation of the journal.
  • Helping to raise awareness about the journal among their professional networks

Membership

Membership is open to persons with an active interest in education research and who pay the annual subscription fees. A person desiring to join the association may lodge an application form with the Secretary. Such application shall be considered and decided upon by the Executive Committee

You can register with the Journal to contribute with articles by filling in the registration form and become a contributing author of the Eswatini Education Research Journal
